Student visa guidance
Studying in Australia, explained clearly.
Choosing a course, enrolling with a registered provider and understanding what the student visa involves — in plain English, so you go in informed.
Guidance, not immigration assistance.
We help with the course and enrolment side of studying in Australia and give general information. We don’t prepare or lodge visa applications. For the visa itself, use the Department of Home Affairs or a registered migration agent.
What the student visa generally involves
A high-level overview of the Student visa (subclass 500). Requirements change and depend on your circumstances — always check the current Home Affairs guidance .
A CRICOS-registered course
International students must enrol in a course registered on CRICOS and receive a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from the provider.
The Genuine Student requirement
Applicants must show they are genuinely coming to Australia to study — usually through their study history, circumstances and plans.
English proficiency
Most applicants need an accepted English test result, depending on the course and their circumstances.
Financial capacity
Evidence of enough funds to cover tuition, living costs and travel for the stay.
Health cover, health and character
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the whole stay, plus health and character requirements.
Visa conditions
Once granted, conditions apply — such as maintaining enrolment, attendance and work limits.

Visa questions.
Do you lodge student visa applications?
No. We provide general information about studying in Australia and help with the course and enrolment side. We don’t provide immigration assistance. For the visa itself, use the Department of Home Affairs website and ImmiAccount, or engage a registered migration agent.
How do I find a registered migration agent?
Search the official register of migration agents (OMARA). Registered agents are bound by a code of conduct, and you can check their registration number.
How do I check a course is CRICOS-registered?
Search the CRICOS register. It lists the providers and courses registered to enrol international students in Australia.
Have student visa rules changed recently?
Yes — the rules change regularly, including changes from 2 October 2026 to who can apply for a Student visa while in Australia. Always check the current requirements on the Home Affairs website before you apply.
